Mark TwitchellCanadian filmmaker Mark Twitchell has been charged with first degree murder by Edmonton police. Twitchell is accused of luring 38 year old Johnny Altinger to a concealed garage by pretending to be a woman online, then strapping him to a chair and cutting him to pieces.

Twitchell who runs Xpress Entertainment had just completed filming his latest independent movie entitled “House of Cards” which used a shockingly similar plot. Twitchell posted a casting advertisement for the thriller back in August this year on his Facebook account. In September someone using Twitchell’s known YouTube username, and e-mail name XpressDirector purchased a “telescopic stun gun baton” from iOffer.Com an online auction site.

Then on the 10th of October Johnny Altinger told friends he was meeting an online acquaintance and gave them directions to where he was going. He has never been seen since, but when police began investigating his disappearance they found enough forensic evidence at the garage to arrest Twitchell on Halloween night and charge him with first degree murder.

Speculation is mounting that Twitchell turned his fiction into a reality, and there are even concerns that the murder of Johnny Altinger was even recorded with plans to be released as a snuff film.

Twitchell was currently working on a massive non-profit making Star Wars fan film entitled Secrets of the Rebellion, Xpress Entertainment’s website is currently offline and IMDb lists SOTR as still post production.

Ian McDiarmidStar Wars actor Ian McDiarmid, who played evil Emperor Palpatine in four of the classic hit movies, has suffered a suspected heart attack whilst performing in front of a theatre audience in London’s West End.

Despite falling ill half way through his performance, suffering from dizziness and feeling unwell, the highly distinguished Scottish stage actor stuck to the old saying “the show must go on” and concealed his condition from everyone so he could finish the play. He was so convincing that audience members were totally unaware he was suffering some sort of attack, and he even received glowing reviews from critics watching his performance.

McDiarmid not only finished his performance in Luigi Pirandello’s Six Characters in Search of an Author on Wednesday night, but he even took the curtain call at the Gielgud Theatre before calling an ambulance to take him to hospital.

Today his agent is insisting that Mr McDiarmid is perfectly well and will be continuing the role until the run at the Gielgud Theatre ends in November.

You will be able to catch this brilliant actor on television soon, he is playing the part of Dennis Thatcher in a forthcoming television dramatisation of the final days of Margaret Thatchers political career.

Thrill The WorldCharity fund raisers in Bolton, Lancashire, are appealing for more volunteers to help them in a world record breaking stunt this weekend.

Steve Clegg is organising a “Thrillerthon” at Bolton’s Hayward Leisure Centre. The event will be part of a global attempt to get the biggest ever synchronised performance of Michael Jackson’s iconic Thriller dance routine.

Thrill The World 2008 hopes to achieve the largest worldwide simultaneous dance of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” ever recorded. The annual event began in 2006 when Canadian dance instructor Ines Markeljevic got the first world record of 62 zombies performing the “Largest Thriller Dance” in one location. In 2007 Thrill The World then set the record for “Largest Simultaneous Thriller Dance” when 1,722 people in 52 cities on 5 continents danced Thriller at exactly the same time. And this year the organisers hope to smash that record.

This year’s event will be held on Saturday 25th October, and people in the North of England are being asked to help by registering at Thrill The World ~ Bolton and volunteering their services for the night.

Steve Clegg told us: “It’s not too late to join in — we are looking to get as many people as possible involved.

“They don’t have to be able to dance and you can learn the routine in a couple of hours using the internet.

“I’d urge people to just go for it and get involved, it’s something so different and will be fantastic fun.”

The Bolton event hope to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Noel EdmondsIn an interview on the BBC’s Breakfast News Edmonds not only strongly criticised the BBC and it’s TV Licensing policies, but also revealed that he believes his dead parents follow him around as glowing melon-sized orbs.

Noel Edmonds, the true King of British light entertainment, spoke out about how the BBC are funded and stated that he would rather go to prison than pay the licence fee to a company who ‘badgers, hectors and threatens people’.

But even more bizarrely Edmonds also explained how the souls of his deceased parents follow him around in the shape of “small planets” which can be seen using digital photography.

He said: ‘Orbs are little bundles of positive energy and they think they can move between 500 and 1,000 miles per hour.

‘They look like little round planets but they come in all shapes and sizes.’

He added: ‘Conventional photography can’t pick them up but digital cameras can.

‘My belief is that these are something to do with some form of positive energy.

‘And possibly because I miss my parents like mad, I like to think they are them.

‘I’ve got loads of photographs of me at home with two orbs that visit me.

‘The two that I have are about the size of melons. One sits on my arm and the other is usually in the back of the shot, sitting just over my right shoulder.’

Edmonds was introduced to the New Age philosophy of Cosmic Ordering by his girlfriend Liz Davies two years ago. Since following the strange lifestyle choice he has seen his career begin to soar once more.

QuintFrank Mundus was a legendary shark hunter based in Montauk, Long Island and was the inspiration for Peter Benchley’s Captain Quint from Jaws.

Mundus died this week aged 82 at Honolulu’s Queen’s Medical Center from complications following a heart attack. Mundus was born in New Jersey in 1925 and began shark fishing off the coast of Montauk in the 1950s, he holds the record for catching the biggest great white sharks using rod and reel.

Jaws author Peter Benchley was in Montauk in 1968 and was fascinated with Mundus. The writer would watch Mundus head out to sea in a relatively tiny boat and hunt for killer great whites that were practically the same size as his vessel. Just like Benchley’s character Quint, Mundus would harpoon the huge beasts and run with them till they tired before pulling them alongside his boat and shooting them with a rifle.

Frank Mundus

Benchley tried denying the connection with Mundus, but the similarities are obvious. A close friend of Mundus who knew him for over 30 years had this to say.

“The movie was based 100 percent on him. Everything that they talked about in that move came directly from him.”

Mundus himself didn’t seem to be a huge fan of the film,

“It was the funniest and the stupidest movie I’ve ever seen . . . no shark can pull a boat backwards at a fast speed with a light line and stern cleats that are only held in there by two bolts,” he said. “And I’ve never boiled shark jaws. If you do, you’ll only end up with a bunch of teeth at the bottom of your bucket because the jaw cartilage melts.”

But that’s the kind of response one would expect from such a mean character. The fishing legend even described himself as “aggravating”.

Frank Mundus retired to Hawaii in 1991 with his wife Jeanette who was 38 years his junior, but he returned to Montauk every summer to fish. Mundus grew concerned by the over fishing of the seas with commercial fishing boats, and began work to preserve shark populations. He fully endorsed a shark fishing system where the animals are tagged and then released.

The fishing community of Montauk had this to say about Frank,

“If they don’t build a monument for him in Montauk, it would be a shame. He put it on the map.”

Henry RollinsHenry Rollins has revealed in an interview with NME that he and celebrity criminal Charles Manson used to correspond by mail.

Punk star Rollins explained that Manson began writing to him in the early 80s after seeing him perform with Black Flag on MTV.

“He wrote me a letter out of the blue once and he said, ‘I saw you on MTV and I thought you were pretty cool’. Rollins told NME.

“So we corresponded a few times in 1984; I’d just tell him about what we were doing with our new record and he’d send back semi-lucid responses.

“He made references to The Beach Boys stealing his ideas, which sounded like sour grapes, and told me to tell everybody else to take care of wildlife. That must have been the old hippy in him talking.”

Rollins told the NME how the letters made him feel “intense and heavy”, and he always knew when a letter had arrived from Manson as the post office worker would give him strange looks. Manson’s letters were always marked with swastikas.
