The world’s number one competitive eater, Joey Chestnut has chomped his way to victory at Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest for the seventh year in a row, and even set a new world record!

Major League Eating’s top ranked gurgitator managed to devour an incredible 69 hot dog sausages and buns in just ten minutes, besting the previous world record of 68 which he set himself back in 2009. The seemingly untouchable eater romped home to retain his Mustard Belt for the seventh year, and collect the $10,000 in prize money. Chestnut’s nearest rival was young Matt Stonie who who managed 51 sausages to take second place.

In the ladies championships it was a much closer run race this year. Ladies champion competitive eater and number one female gurgitator in the world, Sonya ‘Black Widow’ Thomas was very nearly topped from her throne by Juliet Lee. The ladies both gobbled 36 whole wieners each, Thomas just out-ate her rival by scoffing down another three quarters of a hot dog before the time ran out. The three-time champ was understandably disappointed with her performance today and blamed it on the hot weather.
