Japanese geriatric Jiroemon Kimura has become the world’s oldest ever man.
The former postman and farmer was born on 19th April 1897 near Kyoto, Japan, making him 115-years-old and 253 days, the longest any man has ever lived. Women of course live longer than men, because they don’t have to live with themselves. The world’s oldest ever woman lived to a remarkable 122-years-old, and the previous eldest living person to Jiroemon was Dina Manfredini of Iowa who died earlier this month at a spritely 115 years and 257 days old. Good innings.
Jolly Jiroemon puts the secret to his longevity down to healthy eating, so no great scoop there.
