A puppy dog with both male and female genitalia has been found abandoned in the cold lonely streets of Galway, Ireland.

Fortunately the Galway Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GSPCA) rescued the little tinker before it starved to death and found it a suitable foster home for the Christmas period. In the new year the eight-week-old sandy coloured lurcher who has been christened ‘He-She’ will undergo surgery to remove the cock and balls. He-She will also have her lady-parts fully neutered whilst they’re at it. The vets are then unsure as to whether hormone therapy will also be required.

Hermaphrodite dogs are extremely rare and in certain cultures, perhaps even strict Roman Catholic ones, such a creature would be considered an abomination and cast out into the wilderness to die.
