Joey Chestnut

The world’s top competitive eater Joey Chestnut has won the world hot dog eating championships for a sixth year in a row.

Chestnut shovelled a total of 68 hot dogs and buns down his cake-hole in ten minutes in order to retain the Mustard Belt at Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest held on Coney Island today. The total matches the event record which Chestnut set himself in 2009, and his six straight wins now equal the same achievement by maverick gurgitator Takeru Kobayashi who is no longer permitted to compete in the event.

Second place in the men’s event went to world #3 gurgitator and belching world record holder Timothy “Eater X” Janus with an impressive 52-and-a-quarter sausages and buns, third place went to Pat Bertoletti with 51 weiners, and coming up in fourth position was relative new boy Matt Stonie with 46 hot dogs.

In the ladies event the world’s top female gurgitator Sonya “the Black Widow” Thomas held on to her title for the second year running and set a new women’s world record by gobbling 45 weiners. Second place was once again Juliet Lee with 33 dogs, an improvement on last year’s 29.5. Third place in the women’s went to 27-year-old Michelle Lesco with 25-and-a-half.
