Jerry O'Connell

Stand By Me star Jerry O’Connell has been cast as Herman Munster in the reboot of the classic sixties gothic sit-com.

O’Connell kick-started his career paying tubby Vern Tessio in the awesome coming-of-age movie Stand By Me, and now he’s the latest name to be added to the line-up of the forthcoming Munsters reboot from Pushing Daisies creator Bryan Fuller. The remake, which will be called Mockingbird Lane after the family’s address in the original series has already cast tranny comedian Eddie Izzard in the role of Grandpa and British actress Charity Wakefield as “normal” cousin Marilyn.

For those unfamiliar with the original, Herman was ‘the monster’ from the Frankenstein story and was visually based on Karloff’s creature in the 1931 classic movie. In the rebooted version Fuller describes Herman as “essentially a zombie in a constant state of decay”.
