Yesterday saw the All Pro Eating sanctioned National Spring Break Eating Championship, hosted at the London Bridge resort at Lake Havasu, Arizona.
Eaters gobbled their way through pounds of cheese covered fries whilst sticking to the All Pro Eating rules and code of eating ethics. All Pro Eating were set up to ensure that competitive eating remains a safe sport, and one where marketing and entertainment are held in higher regard than some other more ‘grotesque’ eating competitions.
Six professional eaters and one local amateur dived into the cheesy chips on Saturday all hoping to get the $750 first prize, and young female gurgitator Stephanie Torres stormed ahead claiming the cash prize and setting a new national record with a total of 3.25 lbs of cheese fries consumed in eight minutes.
Second place ($500) went to Matthew Silverio with 3 lbs and in third place ($250) was Kevin Ross with 2.625 lbs.
