Skunk found wandering around Shropshire

Albino skunk

There was a smelly surprise in store for one unlucky devil in Shropshire this week, when they were sprayed by an albino skunk whilst walking down the street.

The skunk, usually native to North America, was found wandering about in the snow Bridgnorth. The rare albino specimen, which is most likely an escaped pet, sprayed his rescuer using his potent anal glands. Pet skunks in the US are often descented, but vets in the UK find this unethical.

So, with stinky funk all over them, the rescuers took the red-eyed escapee along to Taylor & Marshall veterinary practice and left the stinker there.

“We are reasonably well known in the area for handling exotic pets, one of our regular customers found the skunk and phoned us. They must have got quite a surprise seeing the red eyes shining out of the snow” vet Julianne Berry said.

“He is behaving himself completely but when people tried to rescue him he sprayed them – that’s how we know he hasn’t been descented. He can definitely spray.”

Julianne is appealing for the skunks owners to come forward and reclaim him.
