Proud catering students from Bradford college have this week been entered into the Guinness Book of World Records for cooking the world’s biggest onion bhaji.
The group of students were assisted by chef Colin Burt and Bobby Patel, of the Prashad restaurant in Bradford when they cooked-up the mammoth onion bhaji as part of last September’s Positive Bradford Day celebrations. The finished deep-fried delicacy weighed-in at an amazing 102kg, completely smashing the previous record of just 84kg.
Naveeda Ikram, the Lord Mayor of Bradford served as an independent witness to the record-breaking bhaji and this week the achievement was finally verified by Guinness World of Records and will appear in next year’s edition of the famous book.
