Toddler mauled to death by rats

A four-month-old baby boy was mauled to death by rats yesterday as his parents lay asleep.

The child, named as Ganesh, was lying with his parents in their slum hut in Ulhasnagar, west India on Thursday night when a pack of ravenous rodents gnawed his right arm to the bone. Ganesh’s parents, father Machhindra Ganpat Kamble and mother Ambua, awoke yesterday morning and found the baby was cold, on closer inspection they discovered the gruesome mauling.

Kamble snatched up his son and rushed him to the local hospital but little Ganesh was declared dead on arrival. The hospital recorded the death as ‘accidental’ and confirmed the cause of death was due to rodent bites.
