Austin Powers actor Joseph Hyungmin Son, best known for playing Oddjob parody Random Task in the spoof movie, was jailed in August for his part in a brutal gang rape. This week the martial arts expert was named as the suspect in a murder enquiry after his cellmate was found dead.

40-year-old Son was originally charged in 2008 for the gang rape and torture of a woman way back in 1990. When the case finally made it to court earlier this year Son was eventually charged, and convicted of conspiracy to commit murder and torture, and handed a life sentence.

On Monday afternoon (10th October) Son’s cellmate, an unnamed 50-year-old serving two years for failing to register as a sex offender, was found dead in the jail cell the pair shared at Wasco State Prison Reception Center in Kern County, California. The cause of death has yet to be determined, but Son has been accused of killing his cellmate.

Son featured in 1997′s Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery playing the henchman, Random Task. The character was a parody of the James Bond, Goldfinger character Oddjob, who used a steel brimmed bowler hat as a weapon. Random Task comically threw his shoe.
