Alcoholic arrested for biting pet snake

A drunken alcoholic was in jail yesterday after biting two chunks out of a pet python.

Police in Sacramento, California, arrested 54-year-old drunkard David Senk on Thursday evening following reports of an assault taking place. Officers attending the scene discovered Senk, pissed and drunk on booze, lying on the ground with his face covered in blood. A couple then approached the cops and explained that Senk had taken two bites out of their pet python, after they’d allowed him to handle it.

“There was nothing to indicate that the snake provoked him at all. He just out of the blue took a bite,” police spokesman Sergeant Andrew Pettit explained.

“I think he did swallow some of the snake.” He furthered.

The four-foot-long royal python was handed over to animal welfare officers who took it to a vet for emergency surgery. The snake was stitched up and is expected to make a full recovery.

Senk was arrested on suspicion of unlawfully maiming or mutilating a reptile and remains in custody at the Sacramento Jail. Speaking from his cell Senk said he didn’t remember biting the snake. He blamed his behaviour on booze, and admitted to being an alcoholic.
