Louise Perry from Portsmouth was left quivering like jelly after finding a five-foot-long snake in her stairs cupboard.
49-year-old yummy mummy Louise was entertaining a TV repairman, who asked to plug in her socket. Louise opened the stairs cupboard so the Virgin TV technician could plug his tool in, and she spotted a big black snake!
“It quickly slid away to the back of the cupboard and I screamed ‘I’ve got a snake in the house’” Louise explained.
“I shut the door and freaked out completely. I was shaking.”
Louise called her husband for help, and the cable guy rang the cops.
“I rang my husband and he said it must be a slow worm – I told him ‘that’s no slow worm’.”
The police sent round an RSPCA inspector, but she bricked it herself, and had to call for back-up.
“The woman from the RSPCA had a look in the cupboard and when she saw it she was scared herself.” Louise revealed.
“She said she had never seen a snake so big and phoned her colleague to come along and help out.”
When back up arrived the five-foot-long serpent was identified as a harmless rat snake, native to Northern America and most likely an escaped pet.
The reptile has been taken to the RSPCA’s Stubbington Ark animal shelter in Stubbington, Hants, where a new owner will be found for it, if the current reckless one doesn’t come forward.
