Mother pulls baby’s head off

A new mother in Malaysia has been arrested after pulling off her newborn baby’s head and flushing it down the toilet. The infant’s body was discovered in a rubbish bin.

The headless body of the baby was discovered earlier this week in the rubbish bins of a block of flats in Pengkalan Rama, Malaysia. Following the discovery police received a tip-off from a doctor at Malacca Hospital where a young woman was admitted suffering from excessive bleeding. After an examination it was determined the woman had given birth within the past 24-hours.

The suspect told police officers that whilst she was giving birth she pulled the baby by the head and it “snapped” off.

“When questioned, the infant’s mother claimed the head snapped off from the body when she was pulling the child in a self-delivery process” Chief Assistant Commissioner Raja Shahrom Raja Abdullah said.

After decapitating the newborn the mother claims the head then fell into the toilet bowl. Police are still searching for the missing baby head at a nearby sewage treatment works.

The young mother is still in hospital being treated for the excessive bleeding, and is reported to be extremely traumatised by the recent events.

The incident is being investigated as concealment of birth by hiding a dead body, and the mother could face up to four years in gaol.
