Veteran Irish actor Liam Cunningham, who recently starred in the brilliant British sci-fi show Outcasts, has been cast as Davos Seaworth in the second season of Game of Thrones.
Cunningham starred as President Richard Tate in BBC’s Outcasts, before it was criminally cancelled. More recently he made a guest appearance in the ill-fated Camelot, that has also been axed, but it’s not Cunningham’s fault. That wasn’t his first trip to Camelot either, in 1995 Cunningham appeared in First Knight alongside Sean Connery and Richard Gere.
The 50-year-old actor will now be seen in the highly acclaimed Game of Thrones playing Davos Seaworth, a notorious smuggler who becomes a knight after coming to the aid of Stannis Baratheon during a siege.
In the Song of Ice and Fire books which Game of Thrones is based on Seaworth, also known as the Onion Knight, is a popular character with hardcore fans.
