There have been many attempts at creating the world’s longest sausage in recent years, with enormous wieners measuring anywhere between 500 metres and two kilometres long!

But these breathtaking bangers have never been officially adjudicated by the authority on world records, Guinness World of Records, and the official record for world’s largest sausage has remained at 150 metres for some time.

But now that record has finally been officially beaten, Guinness representative Johanna Hessling travelled to Paraguay this week for Expo 2011 where 245 people helped prepare a 203.8 metre long, 270kg sausage.

After Ms Hessling confirmed that the sausage had met all Guinness requirements and confirmed it was the world’s largest sausage, it was chopped up into 2,000 portions and served up on bread buns.
