The world’s biggest bag of chips

That’s fries to all you Yanks.

Southend on Sea’s Adventure Island has got its name in the Guinness Book of World Records yet again, this time for a massive portion of deep fried chips.

Five fryers at the amusement park made history yesterday when they chipped and fried 448kg (987lb 10.73oz) of potatoes in four hours and twenty minutes, which mashed the previous record of just 368.5kg which was set in 2004.

The record breaking achievement was fully witnessed and recorded by official adjudicator Dave Slipper, Chief Inspector of Weights and Measure for Southend Borough.

This is the third time Adventure Island have been home to a world record achievement in recent months, in May the world record for driving fairground dodgems was set by 28-year-old Laura Byng, and better still last August Adventure Island was the location for the world record in naked roller coaster riding.
