Doctor WhoThe BBC last night confirmed that Matt Smith will not be sloping off to Hollywood anytime soon.

Sam Hodges, the Head of Communications for BBC 1, announced through Twitter that Doctor Who will be returning for another series and Matt Smith will be staying at the controls of the Tardis.

“Fourteen new episodes have been commissioned with Matt Smith as The Doctor.” The tweet read.

The fourteen episodes equate to a new thirteen episode series in 2012 and a Christmas special at the end of this year.

This is clearly good news, and a relief after Smith spoke earlier this week of his dreams of moving to Hollywood. There is still no mention though of the Doctor’s companions. Speculation is once again mounting that Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill will be leaving the show at the end of this series.
