An Italian restaurant in New York hopes to regain the title for the world’s longest egg noodle pasta.
Sorge’s Italian/American restaurant in Corning, New York set a previous world record for the longest noodle ten years ago, on their 50th anniversary. That noodle, which was 218 feet long, was topped some time later by a 320 foot long noodle.
Well this year is the restaurant’s 60th anniversary and owner Mike Sorge decided it was the right time to win back their noodle crown. Yesterday the Sorge family and a team of volunteers worked together to create a massive 525 foot long noodle (the equivalent of 105 Kylie Minogues long), which pisses all over the current record.
It’s not quite a done deal yet though, the Sorges have until Tuesday to submit all the evidence of their record breaking noodle to Guinness World of Records. The noodle had to be measured by an independent official from the Department of Weights and Measures who signs a statement, there is also video and photographic evidence to be submitted. So fingers crossed for the Sorges and their massive noodle.
