Albino Burmese pythonA reptile owner in Georgia has managed to misplace an 11 foot (3.4m) long, bright yellow albino Burmese python.

Hope and Dennis Skinner from Tifton in Georgia say they their pet snake Tiny was in her cage at 10:00 yesterday morning, but when they checked on her again at noon the huge serpent’s cage was open and Tiny was missing.

Mr and Mrs Skinner immediately began searching for Tiny, looking for tracks to follow in the dirt, but had no success. Police and animal control officers joined the search at 12:30 and hunted for the snake high and low until eventually giving up the search at 14:30.

With no trace of Tiny to be found, and the unlikeliness that the reptile managed to open its cage itself, police believe the snake has been stolen. The Skinners have offered a $100 reward to anyone finding Tiny, and have warned that their snake hasn’t eaten for three weeks and may be hungry, advising people to keep any small pets indoors.

In July 2009 two-year-old Shaiunna Hare was killed by a hungry albino Burmese python.
