The world’s biggest kebab

You simply cannot beat a good kebab with a bit of salad and a dollop of hot chili sauce, so this record breaking story from El Paso really got my mouth watering.

My personal choice of kebab would be doner, a few nice slices of the old elephant’s leg on some pitta bread goes down a treat. But for Leon Ekery the choice was shish kebab, with a 30 foot long skewer and containing over 40lbs of lamb. Just to put that in some perspective, that’s six Kylie Minogue’s long and almost half her weight!

Mr Ekery has been planning his record breaking kebab for some time now, and managed to rope in over 100 family members and friends to assist with the huge task and to record it properly so that it can be verified by Guinness World of Records. Despite a slight miscalculation concerning meat shrinkage, Mr Ekery and his team managed to finish with a properly cooked shish kebab measuring 28 feet and 7 inches long, smashing the previous record by a good ten feet, or two Kylies.
