Toilet snake
Cindy Leturno set to work on her lavatory with a plunger this morning, simply expecting a build-up of brown trout and bog roll, but to her horror a four foot long black snake slithered round the u-bend.
“I saw it, but I didn’t want to believe it,” Mrs Leturno told the York Daily Record.
“It kept coming out.”
“It had to be at least 4 feet long,” she reckons.
“It had to be over an inch thick.”
Mrs Leturno’s husband, Larry, had already left for work and left her alone in the house with the blocked toilet and snake. Fearing for her safety Mrs Leturno backed out of the bathroom and closed the door, she armed herself with a lump of wood and called a plumber and then 911.
North Hopewell Township Police Chief Larry Bailets Sr. along with a plumber attended the scene and managed to unblock Mrs Leturno’s toilet successfully. The pair were, however, unable to locate a snake.
Police Chief Bailets put Mrs Leturno in touch with Hemler Animal Control who declined to visit her home but cheerfully told her she may get bitten, but it wouldn’t kill her.
“It’ll bite you, but it’s not poisonous,” Joyce Hemler of Hemler Animal Control said, after identifying the snake from a description given by Mrs Leturno.
