The world’s top competitive eater Joey Chestnut retained his cheesesteak eating title at yesterday’s World CheeseSteak Eating Championship at Dorney Park in Pennsylvania.
Highly ranked gurgitator Bob Soudt was in attendance at yesterday’s event, and he was determined to beat Chestnut and steal his title. However when the time came Shoudt crumbled and made a tactical error during the gorging.
The final scores were tallied up and Shoudt had managed an impressive 19 six-inch-long Philly cheesesteak sub rolls in ten minutes, matching the record Chestnut set when he won the contest last year. But, Joey ‘Jaws’ Chestnut managed to better his previous score and set a brand new world record with 23 sandwiches in ten minutes.
Chestnut took away the $1,500 first prize, Shoudt got $750 for second, the world’s #12 ranked competitive eater Sean Gordon, a local to Pennsylvania had a good result with 17.8 cheesesteaks and finished third grabbing $500. The world’s second best female gurgitator, the lovely Juliet Lee, managed to gobble 16 of the sarnies and won $250.
