A murder investigation which eventually led to the arrest of a suspected cannibal began after dismembered body parts were discovered scattered around the city of Moscow.
Police began investigating when a man’s decapitated head and an arm were discovered earlier this month, but it wasn’t until a hand from the victim was discovered and police managed to use fingerprints to identify the butchered corpse as Ilya Yegorov.
Once the identity of the victim was determined it was only a matter of time until the investigation lead them to known mental case, Nikolai Shadrin. Shadrin has a history of mental illness and is reported to have spent time in a lunatic asylum.
Police searching Shadrin’s home immediately discovered a stew made from human liver in the suspect’s fridge. While continuing their search, looking for fava beans and Italian wine, they instead found a number of tools which they believe were used to dismember and butcher Yegorov.
