Milk snakeA man in Hamilton, Scotland had to have his car dismantled this week after a fugitive snake took up residence in his bumper.

Gary Bunton was shocked to learn that a four-foot long Pueblan milk snake had slithered into his car whilst it was parked on a multi-storey car park last weekend.

Gary, who runs Cherry Pie tattoo and piercing studios in Hamilton was informed by a car park attendant that he had a stowaway reptile in the boot of his car, and there was some concern that the snake might have been a deadly coral snake, which has very similar markings to a milk snake.

“When we got to the car, we could only see the snake’s head sticking out the bumper. We couldn’t see the colour of its stripes but it looked very much like a Coral snake.” Gary explained.

Eventually a snake specialist at Olympia Pet and Reptile Centre in East Kilbride confirmed that the serpent was harmless and Gary moved his car to Falconers Auto Repairs to have the bumper removed so they could rescue the animal.

Police are seeking the owner of the snake which is believed to have escaped from another car in the same car park.
