Boa constrictorThere were Hershey squirts all round at a funeral in Hershey, Pennsylvania this week when mourners were startled by a six-foot long serpent slithering through the tombstones towards them.

People were gathered at the Hershey Cemetery for a memorial service on Friday when the giant reptile interrupted proceedings. Police and animal handlers were called and the docile snake was rescued and taken to a reptile sanctuary where it is being treated for exposure.

Police are keen to trace the owner, they warn that if the snake is an escapee it will simply be returned, but if the boa was released into the wild deliberately the owners will be charged with animal cruelty and introducing a non-native species into the country.
