Rumours began flying almost immediately after Arnold Schwarzenegger left office that he would make a new Terminator movie, and the rumours escalated last week when it was announced that Fast Five director Justin Lin had been given the job of directing a fifth Terminator.
Now that all sounds pretty crazy to begin with, at 63-years-old Arnie is getting a bit long in the tooth to be playing the same cyborg he played more than 25 years ago. But it gets even madder, today Latino Review dropped the bombshell that the “entire original cast” are set to reprise their roles.
That’s as much information as anyone has, but it seems that the idea is to bring original Sarah Connor, Linda Hamilton and also future resistance fighter Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn) back from the dead. There are even suggestions that Edward Furlong will return as John Connor.
Terminator 5, which has the working title Terminator 2012, even though it has a planned release of 2014, will involve time travel to present day (2012?) and will totally cancel out the two sequels which followed Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
If you’re thinking this is too good to be true, or even that it sounds complete pants, that’s because it may well turn out to be that. Dave Gonzales at Latino Review is confident that his source can be trusted, but anyone can make a mistake.
