A proud couple in Canada have received official conformation from Guinness World of Records that they hold the record for the world’s biggest oak leaf.
Gary and Stephanie Plebon from Ontario found the monster oak leaf whilst raking their garden and were amazed how big it was, almost as large as their four-month-old son Brady.
After reading all about the world’s biggest maple leaf, the couple quickly realised that you can get your name in the Guinness Book of Records for any old shit, so they gave Norris McWhirter a call immediately. Norris sadly died in 2004, but the call was taken by another member of Guinness staff and this week the official confirmation came through, with a certificate in young Brady’s name, a gift from his parents.
The extraordinary leaf measures a remarkable 41 cm long and 28 cm wide, beating the previous record of 45cm by 25cm.
