France overturns absinthe ban

AbsintheThe French parliament have voted to overturn the ban on absinthe which has been around for almost 100 years.

Absinthe was completely outlawed in France back in 1914 when it was believed to cause insanity, the ban was partially repealed in 1999, when the drink became legal, but the name absinthe could still not be used by manufacturers of the beverage.

Now, all that has changed, the ban on absinthe has been completely repealed and the 15 distilleries in France who currently produce the booze can now use it’s traditional name. To celebrate this fact The Morningstarr* are giving away a bottle of La Fée NV Absinthe, a La Fée T-shirt and an authentic absinthe spoon.

Here at The Morningstarr* nerve centre we’re forever quaffing the stuff, and there are usually plenty of bottles knocking around, so we decided to celebrate by letting you get off your noggin too. Just fill in the form below and send us your details to be in with a chance of winning a bottle of the green fairy, and as a treat to us we’d like the winner to send us in photographs of themselves after they’ve supped it all.
