Veterinarians in Sebastian County, Arkansas this week carried out a rare surgical procedure to give a dog it’s missing anus.
2-year-old Ferrah the chihuahua was born with a distressing condition known as anal atresia, which means that the poor pooch didn’t have an anus bumhole. In fact the little doggie spent the past two years passing faeces through her vagina, which has serious medical risks.
Ferrah was adopted out by Sebastian County Humane Society a few months ago, but her new owners couldn’t cope with the dog crapping all over the place and took her back to the pound. It was then that veterinary doctor Rusty Henderson diagnosed Ferrah’s bunghole problem and volunteered to engineer the pup a brand new rectum opening.
“We were able luckily and quickly to find that portion of her rectum that was available and establish a new communication with that orifice that we created for her,” Henderson told local press.
That basically means that the vets managed to build Ferrah a new rectum so she could stop emitting stool through her front-bottom.
Unfortunately Ferrah is still 100% anally incontinent, but luckily a couple have stepped up to take on the ‘special needs’ pup and are planning on using nappies.
