South African axe wielding maniac named

Phindile Joseph NtshongwanaThe former Blue Bulls rugby player arrested for the gruesome axe murders of three people in South Africa this week has been named as 33-year-old Phindile Joseph Ntshongwana, son of former South African Springbok rugby player, Liston Ntshongwana.

Ntshongwana Snr. not only played for the Springboks, but was also an ex-homeland diplomat for South Africa. His son, known as Joseph Ntshongwana, is reported to have a history of psychiatric difficulties.

Joseph was arrested on Tuesday and charged with three counts of murder, one of attempted murder and a further charge of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm. Over the past few weeks in the town of Durban there have been a spate of axe attacks, one of which left a man completely decapitated.

The attacker allegedly told one of his victims, who escaped, that he was seeking revenge for the gang rape of his daughter who was infected with HIV by her rapists.
