Jake the PegA farmer in Northamptonshire has hit the jackpot when one of his sheep gave birth to a five-legged lamb.

The lamb has been nicknamed Jake the Peg, after the humourous Rolf Harris song about a man with an extra leg. Owner Pip Hopcroft is pleased but surprised that the lamb has survived.

“He’s a tough one all right. We’ve had more than 600 lambs born over the past few weeks and one or two are inevitably born with a deformity.” Mr Hopcroft explained to the Northampton Chronicle.

“However, they don’t usually last long, and it is especially uncommon to have a lamb live healthily with five legs.”
