Chess boxingThis weekend saw the title fight for heavyweight Chess Boxing champion being held in London.

Dutchman Hubert “The Wardrobe” Van Melick beat challenger Patrick Teehan from Wales in a checkmate victory. The bout was held at London’s Boston Dome, “The Wardrobe” took just 24 moves to beat the Welshman.

Chess Boxing mixes brains with brawn, and rooks with hooks, a combination of six rounds of chess alternating with five rounds of boxing. A win is decided by a boxing knockout, or a checkmate.
