Squirrel in a toiletBritish entrepreneur Duncan Goose, brother of Casualty hottie Claire Goose, got a nice surprise in his Malawi hotel bathroom when he found a cute little squirrel swimming around the toilet bowl.

Goose is the founder of Global Ethics, a not-for-profit organisation which raises funds for humanitarian projects in developing countries. He was visiting Malawi to oversee the work being done by his company One Difference who are running humanitarian projects there.

During his years as a global entrepreneur Goose has had his fair share of run ins with wild animals, none more delightful than finding a squirrel in his bog.

“I’ve had scorpions creep into my room, I’ve had to remove a very large spider in Australia and I once ran into a deer on my motorbike in Canada” Goose told the Press Association.

But his experience with other critters didn’t prepare him for the surprise in his hotel lavatory.

“It was a real shock as my immediate reaction was that it was a rat and, particularly in developing countries, they carry lots of disease.” He explained.

“I was concerned it was going to jump out and bite me, so I put the lid back down and left it for a minute as I wasn’t sure what to do.”

But after a moments reflection the humanitarian decided to save the little bugger from a brown watery grave.

“In the end I put a hand towel down the toilet, allowed it to climb up, put it in a laundry basket, took it outside and released it back into the wild and it didn’t seem too much the worse for wear so hopefully it’s recovered from the experience and will go on to have a happy life devoid of toilet bowl experiences.”
