Two-headed tortoiseA magnificent specimen of a double turtle’s head has been hatched in Slovakia.

The double-header, christened Madga and Lenka, is the conjoined offspring of a sulcata tortoise. Sulcatas, although the third largest of all the tortoises and native to the Sahara Desert, are rather popular pets amongst reptile enthusiasts. Madga and Lenka were captive bred to a breeder in Zilina, Slovakia last November and were put on display today.

The little critter might look cute as a button now, but sulcatas grow at a tremendous rate. An adult sulcata tortoise will grow up to half a metre in length and weigh up to 75kg, they require a large paddock to roam in, with a heated shed for shelter.
