Tabrett Bethell cast in new Poe TV show

Legend of the Seeker hottie has been cast as the female lead in a brand new period police drama.

Tabrett Bethell will be joined by fellow Aussie Chris Egan, who began his career, as so many other Australians do, on Home and Away. Egan takes the title role of Edgar Allan Poe, the show follows the fictional adventures of the macabre author when he becomes the world’s first ever detective and begins solving crimes in 1840s Boston.

Bethell, who played leather clad dominatrix Cara in Legend of the Seeker will no doubt play Poe’s love interest. The antipodean duo will be joined by British actor Kevin McNally, probably best known for playing Gibbs in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.

Chris Hollier (Alias) is writing and Alex Graves (Fringe) will direct. Shooting begins this month in Canada.
