Man arrested for exploding two pet rats in his microwave

An investigation is underway in Cumbria after a man is alleged to have placed two pet fancy rats in a microwave oven this weekend and cooking them on full power until they exploded.

Police were called after posts were made on the social networking website Facebook commenting on the alleged incident which is supposed to have taken place at a party in Barrow-in-Furness at the weekend.

Police believe the two fluffy rodents were purchased from Pets at Home in Barrow the previous weekend, staff from the pet shop have been helping police and RSPCA officers identify the culprit and an arrest has been made.
