CBS have ordered the pilot show to a new TV series starring former vampire slayer Sarah Michelle Gellar.
Ringer has been picked up by the network this week and if the full series is ordered that would see the proper return for Gellar to prime time television since she quit Buffy the Vampire Slayer back in 2003.
Since Gellar abandoned her most famous role she’s made a handful of piss-poor movies and made the occasional TV appearance. In 2009 Gellar tried to break back into TV with the HBO pilot The Wonderful Maladys, but the show was never picked up and Gellar has been without a regular TV show for almost eight years now, despite initial huge demand.
Gellar’s new show Ringer will be written by Supernatural showrunners Eric Charmelo and Nicole Snyder. The plot follows a young woman (SMG) trying to escape the mob by taking on the identity of her rich twin sister. That is until she finds out that her sister is also a wanted woman.
It doesn’t sound like much at the moment, but with Gellar playing twin sisters that could at least mean that we will see twice as much of her as we might usually.
