A woman in Georgia got a surprise earlier this week when her cow gave birth to a two-headed calf.
Ludmila Jgarkava told local reporters that she thought her cow had given birth to twins, bu when she looked closer she saw a calf with one body and two faces.
The mother sadly rejected her freak offspring, but fortunately Mrs Jgarkava has taken the calf under her wing and is hand rearing it herself.
“I try to keep it alive and feed it with its mother’s milk every three hours,” she told a local TV station.
The calf has two pairs of eyes and two mouths, and feeds with both mouths. Two-headed calves are at risk of dying due to the weight of their two heads making them unable to stand and feed. With this lucky bovine being bottle fed it may well survive well into adulthood.
