Matt Smith and Karen GillanDoctor Who stars Matt Smith and Karen Gillan have been lined up to present a show for Radio 1 on Christmas Eve this year.

Smith and Gillan will be doing their DJ-ing stint as part of Radio 1′s series of festive special guests, which also includes Gavin and Stacey star James Corden and fit singer Pixie Lott.

Becoming DJs at Radio 1 is a fine example of the young and hip direction the BBC are trying to take Doctor Who with their latest cast. Last year previous Doctor, David Tennant hosted the Boxing Day morning show on the stuffier Radio 2 with co-star Catherine Tate.
