Australia’s own ‘Montauk Monster’

An unidentified hairy beast has washed ashore on a New South Wales beach, immediately igniting comparisons with the now infamous Montauk Monster.

The 60cm long creature has been dubbed the ‘Coffs Harbour Critter’ after it was discovered washed up on Diggers Beach at Coffs Harbour in September this year. Photos of the animal have now surfaced supposedly taken by a surfer using his mobile phone.

The pictures have baffled animal experts who have been unable to properly identify the beast, non-experts have suggested everything from a sloth to a monkey.

The ‘Coffs Harbour Critter’ may remain a mystery for some time yet, after the photos were taken the creature’s carcass was washed back out to sea by the returning tide.
