Remy CoutureA Canadian special effects artist has been charged with producing obscene images after he was reported to Interpol.

Special effects creator Remy Couture specialises in ‘hardcore horror’ images and videos, his website RemyFX features macabre images involving dismemberment and mutilation. Last year Couture was arrested by the Montreal police following complaints made to Interpol about a short video which portrayed children being murdered and people interacting with mutilated corpses.

According to a police spokesman people believed that a real child was being mutilated and sexually abused.

Couture was arrested and his computers seized, police decided that there were scenes of a ‘sexual nature’ and decided to prosecute the artist.

Couture will appear in court next week where he says he intends to plead not guilty and sees the whole debacle as a violation of his freedom as an artist.
