True LiesJames Cameron is reported to be returning to the small screen to produce a television show based on his 1994 action thriller True Lies.

Deadline broke the story yesterday that Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment and 20th Century Fox TV are currently developing the show which will be shopped around the TV networks very soon.

Rene Echevarria who created the sci-fi show The 4400 has been brought on board write the pilot episode and will be showrunner if the series is picked up by the networks. The original film starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis as husband and wife with a teenage daughter played by a young Eliza Dushku. Schwarzenegger is unlikely to reprise his role for the show, but speculation has already begun that Dushku would be a perfect addition to the cast.

Immediately after the massive success of Titanic, Cameron moved to television production to create Dark Angel which propelled Jessica Alba to stardom.
