Sonya Thomas sets new chicken wing record

The slim 43-year-old has now won the chicken wing eating event four years in a row, knocking aside the world’s number one ranked competitive eater Joey Chestnut and storming ahead to set a brand new world record.
Thomas held on to her title by eating a staggering 181 wings, or 4.86lbs of meat in just 12 minutes. That’s 12 more wings than the number one female gurgitator managed last year, and also a new world record in the event.
Joey Chestnut managed second place with a respectable 169 wings, which matched Thomas’ performance last year.
