Judge Anderson is in the new Dredd movie

Good news for fans of Judge Dredd, telepathic PSI Judge Cassandra Anderson will be appearing in the forthcoming 3D adaptation of the comic book.

American actress Olivia Thirlby has been cast as Anderson, despite being a brunette. Thirlby is best known for playing the best friend to Ellen Page’s character in the 2007 comedy-drama Juno.

Obviously a quick dye-job isn’t a huge deal, but I’m sure many Dredd fans will be surprised to see Thirlby cast as Anderson who’s appearance in the comic was styled around Blondie’s Debbie Harry. The announcement today that Anderson will be appearing in the movie, which begins shooting in South Africa later this year, can only raise another question with Dredd fans, will the Dark Judges also be making an appearance?
