Joey “Jaws” Chestnut masticated his way to victory last night at the World Rib Eating Championships held in Nevada.

The eating contest is part of the Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-off food festival held every year in Victorian Square, Sparks, Nevada. Joey Chestnut previously took the title for this event back in 2008 when he set the world record for rib eating at 9.8lbs of meat in 12 minutes. However last year there was an upset when Pat Bertoletti stole the title from Chestnut, who performed surprisingly badly on the day.

Well this year the tables turned again, Chestnut wasn’t able to match his best, but he did manage to gorge himself on 8lbs of rib meat in 12 minutes. Bertoletti improved on his score from last year, but still fell short of beating Chestnut with only 6.9lbs of meat consumed. Third place went once again to Erik “The Red” Denmark who managed 4.8lbs.

The gurgitators had everything to eat for, Chestnut walked away with $2,500 for finishing in first place.
