Two-headed turtleA two-headed turtle hatched in Thailand in July is thriving well and gaining weight.

The green sea turtle was hatched on a Thai Navy conservation area in the Similan Islands and was supposed to be released into the wild, but as soon as marine biologist Kongkiat Kittiwattnawong of the Phuket Marine Biological Center noticed the turtle was double-header he realised it’s chances of survival in the wild were slim to none.

Instead the mutant turtle is staying at the naval base and is the star attraction to dozens of visitors a day.

Chaloemsak Chaijit, the information officer for the base has reported that the turtle is feeding and gaining weight, it’s shell is getting stronger by the day and as soon as the sex can be determined they will be choosing a name for the little reptile.
