Around 140 people from right across Europe travelled to the muddy Waen Rhydd Peat Bog near Llanwrtyd Wells, mid Wales this weekend to compete in the 25th annual World Bog Snorkelling Championships.
Snorkellers are encouraged to wear fancy dress outfits and are permitted to use goggles, facemasks and flippers but they are prohibited from using any recognised swimming stroke as they thrash their way along the 55 metre bog and back again.
For the first time in ten years the Waen Rhydd Bog had been cleaned out so conditions were good for the competitors, and sure enough a brand new world record was set. Dan Morgan, from Brecon managed to complete the entire 110 metre course in just 1 min 30.06 secs, which is just over eight seconds faster than the previous record.

FunSwimShop were proud to be involved with such an amazing and fun event. The day was a huge success due in no small part to the bravery, enthusiasm and good spirits of both the competitors and the organisers.
