Unconfirmed reports are flying around the interwebs saying that Doctor Who actress Karen Gillan will be leaving the show part way through the next series.
Last week we reported that Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat had announced that the next series of the show would be split into two parts with half the episodes being shown in spring 2011 ending on a tremendous cliffhanger until the show returns with the remaining episodes in the autumn.
Speculation has now begun that this tremendous cliffhanger will be the death of Gillan’s character, the Doctor’s assistant Amy Pond.
Neither the BBC of Steven Moffat have confirmed the rumour, but it doesn’t sound entirely unlikely either. In a show like Doctor Who it’s not unfeasible that Amy will indeed be killed, and be gleefully resurrected as soon as the show returns after the summer break. Which would be a very tedious waste of time and not a tremendous cliffhanger whatsoever. It goes from bad to worse.
