World's biggest qatayefBakers in the city of Bethlehem in the Palestinian West Bank have set a new world record by making the biggest qatayef pancake in record time.

The qatayef is an Arab pancake which is usually eaten during the month of Ramadan. The dessert is made from a batter like most pancakes and filled with sweet cheese or nuts and covered in honey and cinnamon. They sound delicious I have to say.

On Friday hundreds of people gathered in the courtyard of the Catholic Action Center as local baker Rami Dana prepared the colossal pudding on a specially made griddle and gas burner. The finished sweet weighed in at 100kg and measured three metres across. The huge crepe was cooked in an amazing two-minutes and forty-seconds, which smashed the previous ten-minute record.

The record breaking achievement has been officially recognised by Guinness World of Records.
